Regional Samaúma's Choro Performance Program immerses musicians in the performance practice of Brazilian choro while fostering community through shared musical experience. The program promotes both the repertoire and spirit of choro as a living tradition with deep historical roots.
Led by Fernanda Silveira (cavaquinho), Fabio Oliveira (pandeiro), and Gabriele Leite (6-string guitar), participants meet weekly for faculty-coached ensemble sessions inspired by the traditional Roda de Choro.

Our faculty regularly performs at venues including Barbès and Lincoln Center and has collaborated with many of today's leading Brazilian and international artists.
The Choro Performance Program brings this professional experience into a welcoming, hands-on learning environment where students strengthen their musicianship while becoming part of New York's growing choro community.
Program Overview
Join a vibrant community of musicians dedicated to learning and performing Brazilian choro.
This 12-week immersive ensemble program is designed for intermediate and advanced musicians seeking to deepen their understanding of the choro language through repertoire study, reference recordings, accompaniment, listening skills, ensemble performance, and an end-of-semester student recital.
Throughout the semester, students work closely with the Regional Samaúma faculty while learning from internationally acclaimed guest artists.

Who Should Apply?
This program is intended for intermediate and advanced musicians.
Melody players should be comfortable reading standard notation.
Harmony players should be comfortable reading chord symbols and accompanying in an ensemble setting.

Regional Samaúma – Brazilian Acoustic Guitar Lessons for kids: Fall 2026.
October 3 to November 21
Schedule: Saturdays, 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM
Location: PEARL STUDIOS NYC - 500 Eighth Avenue - New York, NY 10018
Our guitar classes introduce children to music through playful, engaging Choro-inspired melodies. In a fun and structured environment, kids develop rhythm, coordination, music reading, and essential musical skills from an early age.
Expert Instruction
Classes are led by Gabriele Leite, concert guitarist and experienced music educator, with a special focus on teaching children and early music education.
Musical Foundations and Brazilian Music
Lessons combine accessible pedagogy with beautiful Brazilian repertoire, emphasizing music reading and the rich rhythms and musical language of Choro.
Minimum age: 7 years old.
