Regional Samaúma offers a guided group Roda de Choro in New York City, designed to immerse musicians in the choro playing style while fostering community through shared musical practice. This guided Roda de Choro promotes both the repertoire and spirit of choro as a living tradition with deep historical roots.
Led by instructors Fernanda Silveira (cavaquinho) and Fabio Oliveira (pandeiro), the guided group Roda de Choro meets weekly and includes hands-on instruction in ensemble settings typical of a Roda de Choro. This Fall for 2025, we are joined by the great Cesar Garabini (7-string guitar) for our guitar instruction.
