Regional Samaúma offers a guided group Roda de Choro in New York City, designed to immerse musicians in the choro playing style while fostering community through shared musical practice. This guided Roda de Choro promotes both the repertoire and spirit of choro as a living tradition with deep historical roots.

Led by instructors Fernanda Silveira (cavaquinho) and Fabio Oliveira (pandeiro), the guided group Roda de Choro meets weekly and includes hands-on instruction in ensemble settings typical of a Roda de Choro.

We are thrilled to offer three exclusive masterclasses, co-led by guest artists alongside Regional Samaúma:

Note: Masterclasses are included at no additional cost for students enrolled in all 12 regular sessions.

Participant Guidelines

• Harmony instruments should be able to comp and read chord symbols.

• Melody instruments should be fluent in reading standard notation. Parts are provided for C, Bb and Eb instruments.

• The Guided Roda de Choro is ideal for intermediate to advanced players, whether already familiar with Choro or new to the genre (especially classical and jazz musicians seeking to expand their stylistic fluency).

Please arrive 15 minutes early and bring:

• Your instrument

• Printed sheet music or a tablet

• A portable music stand

Regional Samaúma – Acoustic Guitar lessons for Kids
Location: PEARL STUDIOS NYC - 500 Eighth Avenue - Third floor - New York, NY 10018
Schedule: Saturdays, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Our guitar classes introduce children to music through playful, engaging Choro-inspired melodies. In a fun and structured environment, kids develop rhythm, coordination, music reading, and essential musical skills from an early age.

Expert Instruction
Classes are led by Gabriele Leite, concert guitarist and experienced music educator, with a special focus on teaching children and early music education.

Musical Foundations and Brazilian Music
Lessons combine accessible pedagogy with beautiful Brazilian repertoire, emphasizing music reading and the rich rhythms and musical language of Choro.

Minimum age: 7 years old.
